Enrichment and CDD
Enrichment
Our enrichment programme is essential to developing student’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural experiences. We offer a varied and engaging programme of clubs, qualifications and activities that give our students the opportunity to be challenged and inspired. Each of our clubs are linked closely with our 8 Student Development Curriculum (SDC) strands to ensure our school vision is achieved. There are over 50 clubs on offer, and it is an expectation that students attend at least one club each week. At the beginning of each term we review the enrichment timetable and give students the opportunity to sign up to new clubs.
All students who attend a breakfast and/or after school club are provided with food and drink. Our library is also open from 8am until 5pm daily to support students in accessing a computer and completing homework. We track the student's attendance to all clubs via SIMs activities, which allows us to reward students for their commitment to enrichment.
In addition to our weekly clubs we also offer a number of workshops, qualifications and opportunities that students can be involved in. This includes:
- Duke of Edinburgh
- School Challenge Programme
- Jack Petchey Speak Out
- UKMT Maths Challenge
- Sports Leadership Qualification
Character Development Days
The aim of our Character Development Days (CDDs) are to further enhance our enrichment offer and develop our student’s cultural capital beyond the day-to-day curriculum. They link closely with our SDC strands and are planned carefully to ensure they have a positive impact on students’ aspirations, self-belief and confidence.
We have three CDDs across the academic year with different faculties leading on the planning of these. At the end of the year every student attends a rewards trip.
